Sapphire is a type of corundum which crystallizes in the form of tabular prismatic crystals with hexagonal double pyramid structures. The colour range includes blue, white, black, purple [known also as Oriental Amethyst], yellow [known also as Oriental Topaz], and green [known also as Oriental Emerald]. Sapphire also occurs in the form of asterated or "star" sapphire; the "star" results due to the inclusion of small cylindrical cavities within the stone which are parallel to the prism planes. This mineral can be used to rid one of unwanted thoughts and to bring joy and peace of mind via opening the mind to beauty and intuition. The sapphire brings lightness and joy, with depth of beauty and thought, to the user/wearer. The sapphire is known as a "stone of prosperity", sustaining the gifts of life, eliminating frustration, and fulfilling the dreams and the desires of the consciousness. It tends to focus, to emanate, and to radiate energy without ones the conscious initiation. It is said to have been one of the stones used in the breastplate of the high priest. The sapphire has been used in the treatment of disorders of the blood, to combat excessive bleeding, and to strengthen the walls of the veins. It has also been used the treatment of cellular disorders, bringing the energy of cooperation to the cellular level.
